Verbena Bonariensis Lilac 

A popular and attractive perennial which produces robust plants with a mass of wiry stems topped with an abundance of lavender blooms.  Perfect planted in a border amongst other perennials where it will complement without smoothing. Height 120cm. Although a perennial it may struggle in very cold winters, thus a covering of mulch is recommended.

Cultivation Advice Verbena Bonariensis Lilac 

  • Best sown Feb – Apr on the surface of a fine soil- based seed compost and gently pressed in.  The seed needs light to germinate.
  • Cover the seed tray with a [piece of glass or place in a clear plastic bag to maintain humidity.
  • Germination 24-28C.  failure to maintain the min temp will have a serious affect on germination success.
  • Germination in 14-21 days with sufficient warmth.
  • When large enough to handle prick out into trays or pots and grow on under cooler conditions.
  • Gradually acclimatise outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and plant in full sun with well-drained soil.
