  • Can be sown early spring or late summer.
  • Seedlings sown in Jan usually flower the first year, any later and they will flower the following year.
  • Sow 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your area.
  • The plants do develop deep tap roots thus a deep pot or root trainers are ideal.
  • Sow finely on the surface and cover very lightly with fine seed grade compost.  Place in a clear plastic bag or cover with a piece of glass to maintain humidity.
  • Place out of direct sunlight at 15-18c to germinate.
  • Germination 7 to 21 days.
  • Transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on in cool conditions.
  • Plant out in full sun 30-45cm apart in well-drained soil after all danger of frost has passed.
  • Heavy / waterlogged soil will endanger the plant successfully over-wintering.
  • Benefits from a covering of mulch over-winter.
