Cultivation Advice Tomatillo Pineapple Physalis Ixocarpa

  • Start undercover with warmth provided (65-70F) from 6 weeks prior to the last frost in your area..
  • Best sown on a well drained medium, a mix of compost
  • and vermiculite is ideal and lightly covered with the growing medium.
  • When large enough to handle seedlings can be pricked out into individual pots
  • and grown on at cooler temperatures.
  • In the UK the plants will need a well sheltered very sunny location to thrive outdoors.
  • Under glass will be fine.
  • Gradually harden off any plants that are being planted outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.
  • The fruits are ripe and ready to harvest when the fruit fills the calyx
  • and the husk bursts. Store the tomatillos in their husks in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks.
