Price range: £1.29 through £9.99

California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) ‘Mikado’ produces vibrant, cup-shaped flowers in rich, deep orange shades. Ideal for sunny borders or wildflower areas, it provides bold summer colour and attracts pollinators.

  1. Sow seeds directly outdoors from March-May or in late August-September for earlier blooms the following year.
  2. Scatter seeds thinly on the surface of finely raked, well-drained soil and lightly cover with a fine layer of soil.
  3. Water gently to keep the soil just moist until germination.
  4. Seeds will germinate in 14-21 days in warm conditions.
  5. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin out to 15-20cm apart.
