Broccoli Purple Early Sprouting (Organic)

Broccoli Purple Early Sprouting (Organic). An extremely easy to grow hardy winter vegetable which crops when little else is available in the garden. Sturdy 12-18in plants produce a heavy crop of tasty purple heads and young leaves (which turn green when cooked) during late winter/early Spring. These should crop through to mid April, freeing the ground for spring crops. (2.5 Gram Seeds ~ Approx 875 Seeds)

Cultivation Advice Broccoli Purple Early Sprouting (Organic)

  • Sow directly into the garden or trays. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil.
  • Keep soil moderately moist during germination. (Broccoli can be sown in spring through to mid-summer for over-wintering)
  • Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart in rows spaced 2 to 3 feet apart depending upon available room.
  • Thin or transplant seedlings when 2 inches tall.
  • Broccoli grows best in a mostly sunny location during the cooler parts of the growing season. Prefers fairly rich soil kept fairly moist.
  • Cut the main head early and the plants will continue to produce numerous small side heads through to late spring. Continuous steady harvesting is essential to maximise the harvest.
  • Protect from birds and other pests.
